Our Involvement in the Community
is a Reflection of Our Commitment
Our DNA as a community bank is to have a positive effect on the growth and mission of the local nonprofits, business owners, government agencies, and more that make up the lifeblood of the neighborhoods we serve. We strive to go above and beyond the call of duty by actively partnering with organizations throughout the DC Metro area.
Our sleeves are rolled up and ready to get into local outreaches and charity events. Namely, we support dozens of regional and national nonprofits, conduct financial literacy programs at local schools and organizations, organize charity drives, and much more.
Volunteering with Nonprofits and Organizations Throughout the DC Metro Area
Our employees exemplify the spirit of John Marshall Bank, frequently volunteering at local charities, nonprofits, and organizations of their own volition. They actively live out JMB’s mission to add value to the communities we are involved with and live in.
Together, we make up part of the greater picture of building a better tomorrow through community involvement and intentional service.
Donating More than Just Time
Every fall, the Bank participates in a volunteer initiative in which team members are encouraged to support the organizations that uplift the community around us. Through coordinated volunteer days and multiple donation drives run through each of our branch locations, it’s more than just time we’re giving, it’s manpower, nonperishable food, clothing, and so much more.
Bringing the Community Together
In 2023 the Bank played a pivotal role in bringing the Tuskegee Airmen, the Women Airforce Service Pilots (“WASP”), and the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit to Prince William County. The exhibit tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP as they rose above adversity and the clouds to serve the country during World War II.
Educating the Next Generation – Financial Literacy
JMB team members throughout all of our locations can often be found partnering with local elementary, middle, and high schools and related organizations to run financial literacy programs. We strive to make learning about topics such as budgeting and making business plans engaging and entertaining for each and every student. As a team, we help students develop a sense of responsibility and ownership with finances. Our primary financial literacy and education partners are Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, who our team works closely with at their JA Finance Park, and Liberty’s Promise, which supports young immigrants in need while encouraging them to be active and conscientious American citizens.
